Notes from this trip: This was a different trip away to usual as it was our first caravan rallie. The rallie was organised by a fellow member of Caravanning4u for his birthday, it was to be held at a fairly local site to us so we decided to attend to meet some people from the forum and to wish a fellow member a Happy Birthday. We set off on Friday afternoon after I had washed both the car and the caravan and we arrived at the site after a nice journey down the motorway. We greeted some fellow members and pitched up as usual, the pitch was rather unlevel so we used our yellow Fiamma levelling ramps under the wheels and some wood chocks under the rear steadies. The weather was really nice, sunny and not to bad temperature wise either. We then had tea and had a walk around the site to meet some more members and then later retired to bed, the site was rather quiet at night with only a slight buzz from a pilon in a nearby feild. The next morning we awoke and had breakfast in the awning and then went for a quick site walk to find out about the Jacobs table that was to be held later that evening in Bob's Awning or rather Marquee the size of it!! We then headed into York town centre to have a look around York's historic shopping town, and then to later meet up with my sister and her boyfriend for a meal. After having a lovely meal and taking a few photographs we headed back to the caravan site on the buss once again. We arrived back at site and cooked our contribution for the Jacobs table and then later headed down to Bob's awning where everyone had gathered for a natter and a bite to eat and drink. After having a nice evening alongside other members of Caravanning4u, we headed back to our van and retired to bed. The next morning we got up and had breakfast then we went for a walk around the site and got some photographs, then i set my camera on my tripod and took a group photograph of everyone. Then most of us started to pack up and left later that day. It was a great weekend, thanks to Bob & Kim for organising the meet with Eric and for hosting the Jacobs table in your awning & marquee and thanks to Paul (r0lex) for carrying through Eric's wishes, bringing Linda along and for my Photography competition prize too. Thanks again everyone.

Short Site Review: York Caravan Park is set out and maintained really well, the pitches are very large and most of which are hard standing gravel pitches with full serviced facilities such as Electric hook up, water hook up and a waste drain for each pitch. Our pitch (No.14) was very nice with hedges at each edge, but it wasnt very level we needed our Fiamma levelling ramps under the wheels and some woodern chocks under the rear corner steadies. The sites toilet blocks were in a log cabin and had full facilities, they were clean and well maintained. The site has a fishing lake behind the barn which is man-made. The site also has Caravan storage with high security gates etc oposite the reception building. The reception is a brick building and inside offers Wifi access to people using the site. Opposite the reception is a security barrier and a key fob is given to each person staying on the site when a £10 refundable deposit has been given to the site owner. We enjoyed staying at the site and will bare it in mind to visit again. Please note if using a Sat Nav it will tell you your destination is on the left (a farm building) but the actual destination is a couple of metres up the road on the right.
